Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The Salvation Army says more than 2,800 Central New York families have registered for the Christmas Bureau Distribution.

Friday was the last day to sign up for the campaign that collects gift donations for families in need.

However, toy donations and financial contributions to buy turkeys are still needed for the holiday giveaway.
