Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A brand new tool is in place to help boaters stay safe while on the water.
Earlier this week, the New York Sea Grant rolled out
a new website, offering real time information on the St. Lawrence River.
The web based application provides up to the minute information on water currents and depth data.
Users can access the site via computer or smart phone, and even get text alerts when a pre-determined water depths are reached.
The site is also able to provide 12-hour forecasted information, for boaters looking to head out later in the day.
