According to the American Cancer society 50% of men and a third of women in the United States will get cancer in their lifetime. To fight against Cancer the SUNY Upstate Medical Center is creating the Upstate Cancer Center. Dr. Leslie Kohman, the director of the program stated the UCC will serve almost two million people from 17 countries. According to UCC, the center will be the most comprehensive in all of Central New York. It will include treatment programs in the areas of thoracic, breast, brain, spine, blood, bone, gynecologic and genitourinary.
