It's the hottest winter road race, and could also be the yummiest! Penny Noll, Executive Director of Cazenovia Children’s House, stopped by to tell us about this year's Chilly Chili 5K Run/Walk.

It's a healthy way to start the year. The Chilly Chili 5K is a fun course that winds through the picturesque town of Cazenovia. The Chili Cook-off party, which is included with race registration, is a great opportunity for runners to visit with each other in the warmth of the Caz College Athletic Gym.

It's a great opportunity for runners to sample food from 10 of the town’s fabulous restaurants/caterers and 4 local brewing companies.

Penny also showed us how to make Kevin's Kid Popular Vegetarian Chili:

1 Can Pinto Beans

1 Can Great Northern beans

1 Can Corn

4 TBS Chili powder

1 Tsp. Cumin

1 TBS Kosher salt

1 Tsp. Black pepper

2 TBS Garlic powder

2 Cups Chopped carrots

2 Cups Rice

1 Cup Water

1 16 oz. can Diced tomatoes

Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook 6-7 hours on low heat. Or, combine all ingredients in stock pot and simmer on low heat for 1 ½ hours.

The Chilly Chili 5K Sunday, Jan. 6th at Cazenovia Middle School. Late Registration:$31. For more info, check out: chillychili.com
