It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and the most stressful!  Child Psychologist Tanya Gesek was here Friday giving us tips on how to deal with all the stress that comes with the holidays.  Planning ahead of time for the major events of the holiday season can reduce a lot of stress.  It is also important that parents try to stick to a regular routine as much as possible.  Keeping the same bedtime, a balanced diet and making the expectations known helps children stay happy and healthy during the busy holiday season.  This is also a great time to teach children about gratitude and the importance of gift-giving as well as receiving.  If the state of the economy is what is stressing you out, think outside of the box.  Instead of spending a lot of money on presents, use that money towards something you and your family can all do together.  Most importantly this holiday season, just spend time together with the people you love.  You can contact Tanya Gesek by email at tgesek@twcny.rr.com
