Speech impediment can be very difficult and embarrassing for children and teens to deal with while growing up. The National Stuttering Association strives to help children with speech impediments, especially stuttering, and their families. Their goal is to bring hope and empowerment to children and adults who stutter and their families and teachers through support, education, advocacy, and research. On Saturday, November 7th the NSA will be putting on a Youth Day at the Gebbie Clinic at Syracuse University. This event will provide a setting for children and teens to meet other children who stutter, engage in fun and self-affirming activities, and meet successful adults who stutter. The event will also give parents a chance to learn how to help their child and learn the latest in stuttering research. The event will take place on November 7th from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission will be $10 for families and $15 for professionals of speech impediments. To learn more about NSA visit their website here or visit the local chapter of family therapies' website here.
