As we start to round out the first month of the new year it’s important we remember those sacred resolutions we made just a few weeks ago… especially when it comes to our finances! That is where our coupon guru steps in. Lauren Greutman, founder of iamTHATlady.com, gives us tips on how to get ourselves out of debt for good. These tips have been tested and are all based on Lauren’s own personal journey of getting out of debt so read on!

1.) Look into the future. The first step of sticking to a budget is seeing a vision for your family. Where you want to be in 5 years? Do you want to be in a bad financial situation? Make the conscious decision that you ARE going to get out of debt!

2.) Create a budget together. It’s important to set the financial budget together as a family so that everyone is on the same page.

3.) Know your weakness. Try to eliminate as much temptation as possible. If you frequently steal money from your savings accounts hide them in an account like ING.

4.) Cash is king. Ditch the ATM and credit cards and use cash whenever possible, this week keep you from impulse buying.

5.) Put it in writing!

And, in addition to everything else… clip those coupons! For everyday deals and steals and all around saving tips visit Lauren’s website here.
