Whether you want the latest movies released or you want to relax with an old holiday classic our resident movie critic Brian Miller weighs in!
As for the newest movies to hit the shelves, the week of December 12 brings a favorite comedian, a movie full of gossip, and a new twist on old westerns! "Mr. Popper’s Penguins," the latest family comedy from funny man Jim Carrey was underwhelming in Brian’s eyes. He said he was excited to see the movie but its’ anticlimactic plot left him disappointed, ultimately choosing to leave this DVD on the shelf.
"The Help" received a surprising "thumbs up" from Brian, saying it’s a great movie to bring home if your looking for a heartfelt drama. But, for those of us who are into the classic western tales, "Cowboys and Aliens" doesn’t hold much promise. Brian said the special affects were impressive but the movie overall wasn’t worth taking off the shelf.
Although the newest releases weren’t a hit there are some movies that are never out of style this time of year! Brian gave us his top picks for holiday movies. Who made the list? The fun loving comedy "Elf," the charming work of Tim Allen in "The Santa Clause," the not-so-chick-flick "Love Actually," and the Christmas movie that will always top the list and warm your heart, "It’s a Wonderful Life."
Be it the latest DVD releases or a film with a little holiday cheer… ‘tis the season to watch movies!
