Love feeding the birds in your backyard all summer?  Well, now you can carry that activity into the winter months too!  Larry Jones from Cedarcraft Wildbird Center was here today to teach us the best ways to feed birds in the winter.  Larry explained the most important thing to do in the winter months is to keep your feeders clean.  Also choose feeders that may also provide shelter to the birds as it is harder to find suitable shelter in the winter and it is more needed.  Also fresh seed and water is a great way to attract the winter birds.  The type of bird that will be around in the winter is different than the types that are around in the summer so it is important to research the type of birds your backyard will house so you may provide the proper food.  Larry also brought Kindergartner, Garrett Kreiger, with him today to help explain the types of foods the birds in his backyard like.  Even at his young age Garrett is very enthusiastic about bird feeding and says it is one of his favorite hobbies.  Larry explained how great it was that Garrett’s parents encourage this hobby.  For more information contact Cedarcraft Wildbird Center at 315-225-3643.  They are located at 495 Grant Avenue Road in Auburn.
