4th of July Burgers

Fourth of July Burgers

Bacon Cheddar Burger:

Ingredients

1 lb Wegmans 90% Lean Irradiated Ground Beef, formed into 4 patties
4 tsp Wegmans Cracked Pepper Blend
1 cup Wegmans Fancy Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese
8 slices Wegmans Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon, cooked
4 Tbsp Wegmans Dijon Whole Grain Mustard
4 Super Soft Vienna Rolls, split and toasted

Directions:
Preheat grill on HIGH 10 min.
1. Clean grill with wire brush. Using soft cloth, coat grill grate lightly with vegetable oil.
 
2. Season both sides of burgers generously with cracked pepper blend.
 
3. Sear burgers on grill 2 min, until they have changed color about one-quarter of way up from bottom. Turn over; sear 2-3 min. Turn again; reduce heat to MEDIUM or LOW. Close lid.
 
4. Cook burgers to desired doneness.*
 
5. Sprinkle with cheese; close lid. Cook 1-2 min, until cheese starts to melt. Remove from grill; place 2 slices bacon on each burger. Top burgers with mustard; place in rolls and serve.
* If using non-irradiated ground beef, cook to 160 degrees.

Vidalia Onion Burger:

Ingredients

1/2 large Vidalia (or sweet) onion, 1/2-inch dice (1 1/4 cups)
1/2 tsp Wegmans Sea Salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp Wegmans Basting Oil
1 lb Wegmans 80% Lean Irradiated Ground Beef
2 tsp Wegmans Barbecue Seasoning
4 Super Soft Vienna Rolls, split


Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
1. Combine onion, salt, pepper, and basting oil. Arrange in single layer on baking sheet. 
 
2. Cook 30 min on middle rack of oven, stirring every 10 min. Remove from oven; let cool. 
 
3. Add ground beef, barbecue seasoning, and onion mixture to large bowl. Mix well; form into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
 
4. Preheat grill on HIGH 10 min. Clean grill with wire brush. Using soft cloth, coat grill grate lightly with vegetable oil.
 
5. Sear burgers on grill 2 min, until they have changed color about one-quarter of way up from bottom. Turn over; sear 2-3 min. Turn again; reduce heat to MEDIUM or LOW. Close lid.
 
6. Cook burgers to desired doneness.*
 
7. Transfer burgers to clean platter. Serve on rolls.
· If using non-irradiated ground beef, cook to 160 degrees.
