Mihali Tzetzis and Christos Dimkos, Greek dancers from St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, joined us on Bridge Street Wednesday to talk about their art and show Chris and Tanja a few moves.

Tzetzis and Dimkos talked about Greek dancing’s technical emphasis on circles and circular movement as well as its contextual emphasis on unity, positive energy and enjoyment.

The two dancers taught Chris a slower step before Wednesday’s show. During the show, they taught Chris and Tanja a more complex dance.

Tzetzis and Dimkos plan to continue to share their culture this weekend at the Greek Cultural Festival, which runs Thursday through Sunday at St. Sophia’s, 325 Waring Rd., Syracuse. The festival will be open 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
