Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- We all know botox is a wrinkle remover, but it may work against another problem that’s almost as common -- headaches.

The drug is most familiar for those injections that smooth away the facial lines that come with age, but botox may be more than just skin deep.

Some patients who had botox injections in their foreheads reported having fewer headaches than usual.

Now, a new analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association finds that botox can be of some slight benefit in preventing chronic daily headaches and chronic migraines.

But botox was not found effective in patients with chronic tension headaches or episodic migraines.
