I do like my cow dead when I eat it. I do not like it still bleeding but is still tender and tasty. The best is from Angle Food and I cook it on the grill.

thats right cook the beef. It has to reach 160F internaly. use a thermometer and you can still have pink inside. if you like it more done take it off the fire and cover. it will cook under its own heat and not dryout. If more people cooked at home and kept freezers they could search out local farmers that raise beef and buy whole or half sides have them processed locally and not be so worried about the supply. check out local farmers markets they are in almost every town now. peoples life style is so fast paced that many meals are not ate at home this only adds to the problem. support your local farmerand you will not have to worry about how many animals make up your burger.

Too late-- already bought it and ate it. Did not get sick. If you COOK the meat, you can't get sick. Ground beef should always be cooked well-done. Steak should be at least cooked to medium. If you do that, you'll never have problems.

I bet there is a lot of people with the squirts right now because of this bad beef....

mroot, in today's society of fast is good, your approach, while applause-worthy, is about as rare as fair-taxation in this state. signed, a fellow hunter

buteos - 11/2/2009 1:13 PM
Mroot, actually there are also hard working people who produce their own food, namely vegetables and fruits. They are neither scavengers or predators, but cooperators, if you will. There is an epidemic of obesity in this country and eating more vegetables would not be a bad thing.

Yeah mroot - I don't have it in me to hunt but I give credit to those who do (and do it for more than just trophy hunting). I wish we went back to the days of local butchers.

This is just one of the reasons I hunt and eat wild game. I process my own meat so I know how it was handled. An employee of a meat packing plant located who knows where is NEVER going to me involved in the processing of food that comes across my plate. He may have tainted the meat intentionally. 546,000 pounds of meat. It is discracefull to imagine the amount of dead animals it takes to make that much meat. Absolutely unacceptable. Besides deer meat is way better for you. It is also more ethical to hunt a free range animal that has a chance to get away. Beef farmers torture animals and feed them ridiculous growth hormones to make more money on them. They dont care about your health. There are two kinds of people in this world predators and scavengers you make the choice. Or we could just eat vegetables

I heard on the news this morning that these meat processing plants need to test the quality of their meet yet don't need to report the test results to the FDA; there's no overseeing body to check for quality. Also, if the meat is found to have E. Coli, they can just cook the meat and sell it as another product. Eeeeeew!
