Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - If you know a child who’s battling weight problems, now might be the time to learn about a Gillette Road Middle School student’s progress as he tries to lose weight and become more fit.
Brady Mills is hoping to make the baseball team, but he’s concerned that, at his current weight, he’s too big and not fast enough.
In addition, doctors say Mills has high cholesterol and also high insulin levels.
So he’s turning to a medically supervised diet – and no more junk food.
Dr. Wendy Scinta is confident that Brady Mills will win his battle against obesity.
She believes he will lose 30 to 40 pounds by the fall.
Scinta put the boy on medication to control his insulin and he’s altering his eating habits.
- Brady is eating five times a day – three meals and two snacks – and adding protein to help him feel full.
- He’s also writing down everything he eats and when.
- He’s adding more exercise to his activities.
- Brady is wearing a pedometer while walking 10,000 steps a day.
Scinta is using a new kids’ weight loss plan that is detailed in her book “Bounce,”
which is available as an e-book on Amazon.
