Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Onondaga County Health Department will try for aerial spraying of the Cicero swamp again Tuesday night. It was forced to cancel Monday night's spraying due to high winds.

The designated spraying area is generally bounded by on the north by Route 31, on the west by Northern Boulevard, on the south by Taft Road and on the east by the county line (Chittenango Creek). Roads included in this area are all or parts of Route 298, Bull Street, Eastwood Road, Island Road, Cicero Center Road, Fergerson Road, Ferstler Road and Oxbow Road.

It's the first spraying in the county since 2006; the county is trying to kill any mosquitoes which may be infected with the EEE virus.

Officials will be spraying a chemical called Kontrol, which kills mosquitoes on contact. The mixture is about 1/100th the strength of a human spraying mosquito spray on both their arms.

Last week, an Oswego County man was diagnosed with the first human case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis, a rare but potentially fatal virus.
