Despite debate, many won’t change their mind about who they’ll vote for in November

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- If you feel strongly about who you’ll vote for in November, did you know there’s a reason President Obama and Mitt Romney can’t change many minds in the debate Wednesday night.

New research shows that people refuse to surrender their beliefs even when presented with evidence to the contrary.

Whether it’s President Obama’s birthplace, the existence of global warming, or the unproven theory that vaccines cause autism, it’s easier for our minds to trust a lie if it supports our deepest conviction than it is to reject information that requires mental sweat to assess.
