Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- There’s been a huge spike in flu cases all across Central New York this week and from what our doctors are saying, some people are very sick.

We check “What’s Going Around,” starting at Urgent Care in Fulton where the flu is hitting hard. They had ten positive cases on Tuesday along. The fever, body aches and chills come on all of a sudden. Other people at Urgent Care have pink eye.

In Liverpool, Dr. Dracker says it seems like everyone coming into the office has the flu. Some do, as confirmed by NY tests, others have a different virus with flu-like symptoms – the fever and cough last for more than a week. He’s also seeing some cases of bronchitis.

In Cicero, Dr. Terasaka says the flu is definitely what’s going around. He’s also seeing an upper respiratory infection with fever, cough and sore throat. And, there’s a virus that causes croup in little ones, older kids have the same virus, but they end up with laryngitis.

In Auburn, Doctors are also seeing the flu, sinus infections and sore throats – both strep and viral.

And in Pulaski, Dr. Carguello checks in with lots of flu.

What’s Going Around is our way of letting you know what illnesses are out there. Your own doctor can tell you about the best treatments.
