Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- They’re getting lots of hype, but try to get your hands on the two newly approved diet pills and you’ll be disappointed.

Both drugs, Belviq and Qysmia, just approved in the past week, are being restricted. The FDA wants Belviq to be controlled, like opiate painkillers. It’s asked the Drug Enforcement Agency to put restrictions on the pills. Qysmia, approved Wednesday, won’t have those restrictions, but the FDA and the drugmaker have worked out a plan to ensure that doctors don’t start running diet pill mills.

Doctors won’t be able to stock the drug, they’ll have to prescribe Qysmia through a certified pharmacy.
