Fewer Americans getting preventive cancer screenings
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Fewer Americans are getting preventive cancer screenings than they were just 10 years ago. That’s according to new research by scientists at the University of Miami.
The school compared screening rates for the most common types of cancers with the screening rates of cancer survivors. They discovered that when it comes to government recommendations, screenings are down for all cancers, except colorectal.
Researchers attribute some of the decline to ongoing disagreements over screening guidelines and a drop in insurance rates.
