In tonight's food for thought, a munchie crunch-off. Crisp and toasted chips are the hot new snacks, but some of the newest snacks are no better than potato chips.

Taste testers from Consumer Reports tried dozens to find the healthiest and tastiest of the bunch.

The top pics included:
  • The Nabisco Wheat Thins Toasted Chips Multigrain. Tasters’ say if you like wheat thins, you’ll love these Toasted and buttery Multigrain-flavored chips. 14 pieces contain 120 cal., 4 grams of fat and 240 mg sodium.
  • The Lays cracker crisps smooth cheddar packed a lot of flavor and crunch. They’re nice and crispy, almost like a cheesy potato chip. 38 pieces have 130 cal., 4 grams fat and 260 mg sodium.
  • Pretzel Flatz Original Baked was noted for being thin, but tasters said they’ve got a big pretzel flavor and plenty of crunchy goodness. 12 pieces contain 110 cal., 1 g fat and 250 mg sodium.
