Oh my God, oh my God. where can I get my kids injected??? Look at yourselves. Both my kids had it. Of course they're not immunized for anything, nor do we use any pharmaceutical drugs on them ever. They had fevers, headaches, runny noses and coughs for a couple of days. Fevers are how the immune system fights these things off. Suppressing fevers is the stupidest thing you can do (unless > 105). And thinking that some artificial potion will save them is along the same lines. Are peole really that gullible?

bobcicero, you need to contact CNS about this. The feds are offering the vaccine, the syringes and the peripheral supplies (alcohol swabs, etc.) for free. The district already employs nurses that can legally administer the vaccine. You need to urge them to do what the colleges are doing, taking advantage of what is out there with no cost to the schools.

Here they have everyone frantic over getting shots for the little ones, you call your doctor office and "call back periodically, we do not have the shot/myst yet"... ummmm, okay, when do you PLAN on having it?

How our colleges getting the vaccine and not the elementary and high schools? What the heck is going on then????

I am so glad that DDs college will be giving the H1N1 vaccine starting next week. One of her professors is a confirmed. She got the seasonal flu vaccine, and she has been well schooled on the signs to watch for. My worry is that many of those college kids would rather eat glass than go to the health center on campus, so it can really spread and spread quickly.

Bottome line is as soon as you realize that your child is sick, keep them home from school and daycare. Keep a close eye on them and if things don't look like they are improving, seek medical advice. I'm not saying rush to the ER, but call your doctor. Don't be afraid to call the doctor to see what they say. Don't be the kind of parent that thinks everything will be okay, drug them up on medicine and still send your child to school or daycare. It really drives me crazy when a parent sends their child to school or daycare when they know they are sick. All that does is infect everyone else's children and the teachers. I know that kids are contagious with whatever they may have before the symptoms even start, but please once you know your child is sick...keep them home. It's in the best interest for everyone!
