Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - When you're in a public bathroom, do you dry your hands with paper towel or the air dryer? An independent study found both do the job equally well.

Some studies have suggested air dryers are breeding grounds for bacteria, but they were sponsored by the paper industry. One of the few independent studies on this found both paper towels and air dryers reduced bacteria on the hands. So as far as germs go, the method of drying is less important than the amount of time invested - the longer the better.
