Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Texting can be a pain in the neck – literally. Chiropractors have labeled the new risk "Forward Head Posture" or "Text Neck."

How do you tell if you’re at risk? If your ears come in front of your shoulders, your head posture is too far. According to doctors, that can trigger other problems.

Doctor Sarah Pace, a chiropractor with Pace Family Chiropractic, says, "It's just as damaging for adults…sitting at computers all day, them text messaging…it leads to arthritis in the spine and disc degeneration, which can affect your nerves."

Text Neck can be diagnosed with an X-ray and is usually treated with special posture exercises.
