Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The New York State Department of Health has confirmed that more evidence of EEE and West Nile virus has been found in two traps in Onondaga County, according to the county’s health department.
EEE was found in the Route 298 trap and the Island Road trap, both of which are in the town of Cicero. Those traps were collected on Sept. 27. West Nile virus was identified from the Route 298 mosquito trap, which was collected on Sept. 15.
The health department stressed that until Onondaga County has a hard frost throughout the area, it is important for the public to continue taking measures to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
