Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A new study says you shouldn’t wash chicken before cooking or freezing it.
Generations of people have prepped their poultry with a quick rinse, believing it would kill bacteria. Researchers insist that washing chicken will actually spread germs.
Researchers at Drexel University created a YouTube video
to show how bacteria can ride on water droplets and splatter as far as three-feet.
The USDA has advised against rinsing or soaking chicken
for some time now.
The only way to kill the bacteria is to cook the chicken thoroughly until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
