Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- When you go to the movies, popcorn is the perfect snack, but you might want to stay away after you read this.

A recent study published by Chemical Research in Toxicology says the buttery flavoring on your popcorn may trigger Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers say the flavor can stop the brain’s natural mechanisms of clearing the disease, and that might not be all. The flavorant is also linked to lung damage in factory workers who make microwave popcorn.
