We're told that washing your hands is the best way to keep from catching colds and flu.
But did you know hot water is not better than cold when it comes to removing germs?
Studies have shown that washing your hands in water that's 120 degrees doesn't kill any more germs or bacteria than water that's 40 degrees -- and hot water can increase the risk of contact dermatitis.
So wash your hands in whatever temperature water feels comfortable, do it for at least 30 seconds, and use soap.
