Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - It's what we expect as shoppers: what's in the food will be displayed on the label. Did you know that fake ingredients are used in many foods, from olive oil to spices to fruit juice?

Among the most popular targets for unscrupulous food suppliers is pomegranate juice.

Pomegranates are expensive and a new study shows it's often diluted with grape or pear juice, or mixed with additional sugar, or just water and sugar.

There have also been reports of completely "synthetic pomegranate juice" that didn't contain any traces of the real juice.

Look for more on fake ingredients in a study obtained by ABC News to be released Wednesday.
