Central New York (WSYR-TV) -- If your child has a scary sounding cough and a high fever, he or she has What’s Going Around.

Doctors in Camillus have checked in with lots of croup -- a barky cough and fever of 102 to 103 degrees. Doctors say croup can last three to five days. A hot steam shower or being outside in the moist night air can help relieve the symptoms. Along with croup, there's a virus going around with a fever, sore throat and headache. It can last up to five days.

In Liverpool, Doctor Dracker is seeing that same virus. More croup is going around and children with asthma are having a tough time.

In Syracuse, Brighton Hill Pediatrics checks in with croup, strep throat and sinus and ear infections.

Cicero Doctor Terasaka is seeing croup, strep, asthma and the stomach bug, along with bronchitis, colds and allergy symptoms.

What’s Going Around is our way of letting you know what illnesses are out there. Your own doctor can tell you about the best treatments.
