Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Just as school lets out for summer, lots of kids are sick with the same type of virus.

Doctors at Brighton Hill Pediatrics in Syracuse say they’re seeing tons of coxsackie virus, also known as hand, foot and mouth disease, because of small blisters in those areas. It also causes a fever. Other children have checked in with sore throats.

Coxsackie virus is also going around in Cicero. Dr. Teresaka says the kids are running a fever of about 103 and they don’t have much of an appetite. He’s also seeing some pink eye and sinus infections due to allergies.

In Liverpool, Dr. Dracker checks in with coxsackie virus, rashes and there’s a virus going around that causes a fever and sore throat.

In Pulaski, Dr. Carguello is seeing a stomach bug and allergy symptoms.

In Auburn, allergies top the list. There’s a stomach bug going around along with sore throats, both strep and viral.

“What’s Going Around” is our way of letting you know what illnesses are out there. Your doctor can tell you about the best treatments.
