We can't be sure it's H1N1, but the flu is going around in a number of areas across central New York.
Let's start our weekly check of What’s Going Around on Syracuse’s east side where Dr. Freshman says he continues to see children with flu symptoms. They've stopped testing for it, so they're not positive it's the swine flu, but Dr. Freshman says it probably is and the good news is all the cases he's seen have been mild. One boy even went running two days after spiking a fever.
Same story to the south of Syracuse at Brighton Pediatrics, where there are reports of kids with flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue; other kids have the stomach bug.
In Camillus, Dr. Rovall's office is seeing a good number of kids with upper respiratory infections; also, Fifth’s disease, Coxsackie virus and children with allergies are still having a tough time.
In Liverpool, Dr. Dracker’s office is seeing some viral illnesses, with rashes, fevers and the children with allergies are coming in for relief.
In Cicero, allergies are the big thing this week. Other children have a cough; there are some with ear infections and rashes.
And at the Urgent Care in Liverpool, they're seeing the stomach bug and allergies.
What’s Going Around is our way of letting you know what illnesses are out there. Your own doctor can tell you about the best treatment.
