The swine flu continues to spread around central New York.
Let’s start our weekly check of what’s going around to the south of Syracuse. Brighton Pediatrics has seen quite a few children with flu symptoms this week. They're also seeing strep throat; other children have a virus that causes a fever and a cough.
To the east of Syracuse, Dr. Freshman says the flu is still bringing children into his office, although fewer than last week. Other children have sore throats.
In Camillus, Dr. Rovall is also seeing the flu; the Coxsackie virus is also going around.
In Cicero, they're seeing sore throats, Fifth disease and allergy symptoms.
In Pulaski, Dr. Carguello says allergies are causing sinus problems. He's also seeing poison ivy and reminds us of the saying 'leaves of three, let them be.' Ninety percent of the time, prescription treatment is needed for poison ivy.
In Auburn, Dr. Graney's office is seeing sinus infections, strep throat and upper respiratory infections.
What's Going Around is our way of letting you know what illnesses are out there. Your own doctor can tell you about the best treatment.
