Auburn (WSYR-TV) - You might think of yoga as an activity for the young and very flexible and many classes are designed to reflect that. However, a group of women over 50 in Auburn say yoga makes them feel young and, in many cases, their practice has helped them heal from serious injuries.

The participants don’t do backbends or “downward dogs,” but they do many traditional yoga poses, focusing on stretching and breathing. Instructor Georgia Stormes says the brand of yoga is intended for all body types at all fitness levels.

Stormes understands the body, but she says yoga is mostly about the mind. Her students agree, although they rave about the physical benefits.

Stormes also teaches yoga for cancer survivors. She offers classes in Auburn, Camillus, and Skaneateles.
