Kim Welch, of Sacramento, Calif., captured her first professional win following a four-hole playoff in the final round of the Alliance Bank Golf Classic presented by Bill Rapp Superstore. Welch edged out Jin Young Pak of Kang Leung, South Korea, and overcame separate weather delays to claim a $12,600 check and finish the tournament at 9-under par 204

Competing foursomes representing women’s golf teams from area high schools will be matched with a professional golfer from the Duramed FUTURES Tour in the second annual Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes Pro-Junior Challenge Wednesday, July 16, 2008 during Alliance Bank Golf Classic tournament week.

The Nice N Easy Pro-Junior Challenge is a nine-hole match beginning at 8 a.m. at The Links at Erie Village in East Syracuse. Each foursome will be joined by a fifth player from the Tour. Entry is free for participating high school women golfers with the Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes Pro-Junior Challenge trophy and individual trophies awarded to the winning school and its participants, respectively.

A professional from the Duramed FUTURES Tour will join each foursome during the nine-hole scramble event, which begins at 9 a.m. at The Links at Erie Village.

The winning team from the Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes Pro-Junior Challenge on July 16 will represent Section III in the Crowley Intersectional Showdown. The Section V team was determined at the Paychex All-Greater Rochester Section V Girls Shootout, which was held June 17 at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, N.Y. during Wegmans LPGA tournament week.
