We've reached the final days of First Lady Michelle Paige Paterson's "Healthy Steps to Albany" initiative.  And several Central New York classes are in the running!

The six-week initiative started March 9th.  The First Lady challenged students in Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, Buffalo and Yonkers to see what 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes could total the most number of steps.  And over the last couple of weeks, classes from Salem Hyde, Edward Smith, Roberts Elementary and Lincoln Middle Schools in Syracuse have all shown up in the top five listings.  And Pulaski has placed classes in the running for honors in all three grades!

The classes at each grade level who finish with the most steps will win lunch with the Governor and First Lady, plus a tour of an organic farm and other prizes.  Final results are expected to be announced within the next few days.

You can check the latest standings yourself at http://www.healthystepstoalbany.ny.gov/.  And stay tuned to NewsChannel 9 and "Bridge Street," to see how local schools finish, as "Healthy Steps to Albany" wraps up.

What Now?
Jane from Clay worries about her son's health. "For the past 2 yearly visits to the pediatrician, I have asked for help with my son's weight. He is now 8 years old, is 4"1" tall and weighs 94 pounds. Each time I have been told to 'increase his activity.' How? He is not a 'joiner,' and the few activities he likes are once a week for 7 weeks at a time. It's not working - now what?"
