TWO PAYDAY LENDERS ARE BEING FORCED TO PAY BACK THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS HERE IN NEW YORKER WHO THEY ALLEGEDLY RIPPED OFF. ACCORDING THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, "CASH-NET" AND "TELE-CASH" LURED IN PEOPLE, OFFERING QUICK CASH BUT THEY WEREN'T UPFRONT ABOUT THE MASSIVE INTEREST RATES ATTACHED TO THE MONEY.
BlueHippo sued by FTC - again: The Real Deal 11-12-09
The Federal Trade Commission has requested a contempt order against BlueHippo from a federal court. The company collected more than $15 million from consumers, but delivered neither the computers nor financing they had promised.

The Syracuse Department of Motor Vehicles office will no longer let you borrow a pen if you've got to fill out paperwork away from a clerk. They say too many of the pens they've been lending have disappeared.
The Real Deal: Cash For Clunkers Data 11-4-09
New numbers out Wednesday show that despite the purpose of the widely popular "Cash for Clunkers" program, many of the trades made did not improve mileage all that much. It seems a lot of drivers who cashed in on the program, traded in gas guzzling pick-up trucks and SUV's for newer pick-ups and SUV's that got just a few more miles per gallon.
