Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The Empire Brewfest returned to Syracuse Friday evening, bringing more than 250 varieties of beer from around the world to Clinton Square.
Friends Adam Sellwood and Tom Hunsicker say this was their third consecutive year attending the festival.
"We love trying the new beers," said Sellwood.
"Its just a great time to get at out and see the city," said Hunsicker.
Setup for the annual event began Thursday morning. Representatives say it takes a lot of work to get Clinton Square ready for the 3,000 or so people expected to attend.
The fountain in Clinton Square was drained for the event, and tents were scheduled to arrive Thursday morning. "We're bringing in very large tents to house the 250 to 300 different beer brands that we have," said Tom Terry, a promoter for Empire Brewfest.
Terry says lots to ice also was brought in to keep the beer cold.
The festival also offered something called the Beer Connoisseur Ticket, which allowed attendees in an hour early to sample some of the beers not available for regular price.
