Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Some of the most respected and famous novels in literary history were hated in their own time.

On this edition of The List, the NewsChannel 9 morning team looks at a list of five of those novels:

The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck
Lord of the Flies, William Golding
The Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger
Moby Dick , Herman Melville
The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkien
