SCIPIO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a Hudson Valley couple and a Cayuga County woman are in critical condition after their vehicles collided on a Finger Lakes road.

State police tell local media outlets that 77-year-old Marvin Gardner of Catskill was driving with his 64-year-old wife Suzanne when their car was hit head-on by a sports utility vehicle driven by Doris Hrycko of Genoa. Troopers say the crash occurred Wednesday on Route 34 in the town of Scipio, on Owasco Lake's western shore.

The Gardners and the 37-year-old Hrycko are listed in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

A stretch of Route 34 was closed for more than four hours after the crash.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
