Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A fire at a commercial building on North Midler Ave. in Syracuse sent smoke into the air that could be seen for miles Tuesday evening.

The fire began shortly before 5:30 p.m. near Coughlin Ave. and was knocked down by about 6 p.m.

Fire officials at the scene told NewsChannel 9 that the building was a storage facility for cars and boats.

Officials believe someone was working on a vehicle when the fire started.

One firefighter suffered a cut to the face and was treated at the scene.

A cause has not yet been determined.
