Town of Sennett (WSYR-TV) - The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning in the town of Sennett.
According to the sheriff's office, a 2010 Kia driven by 20-year-old Timothy Walsh of North Street in Auburn crossed the center line at the intersection of Turnpike and Depot roads and slammed head on into an oncoming tanker truck carrying a liquid chemical around 4:30 a.m.
The impact carried the car approximately 150 yards. Walsh was pronounced dead at the scene.
The chemical, lime, is not hazardous.
The truck driver, who is from Pennsylvania, was taken to Auburn Community Hospital. The Sheriff's Office said the truck driver's injuries are not life threatening.
Around 12:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office issued a release indicating that the scene of the accident was still being cleared and that the stretch of Route 5 was still closed.
