Deerfield (WSYR-TV) -- State Police have identified the man and woman killed in a murder-suicide in the town of Deerfield on Friday.

Police have identified the man as 27-year-old Thomas M. Anderson, Jr., of Utica and the woman as 23-year-old Kylie Ann Turczyn, of Deerfield.

State Police spokesman Jack Keller tells NewsChannel 9 that they were called to the scene after a woman called 911 saying there was a man with a gun at 101 Carver Street.

Upon arrival, troopers discovered Turczyn with multiple gunshot wounds. She was immediately transported to the hospital where she later died, police said.

An investigation revealed the two had been in a previous relationship and shared a four-year-old child together. Police say Anderson had become distraught over a recent breakup and went to the Carver Street residence without notice, engaging in a verbal dispute with Turczyn. He then pointed a highpoint 9mm carbine rifle discharging several rounds, killing Ms. Turczyn. Anderson then turned the gun on himself.

Another female and two small children were also in the home at the time of the incident, but were unharmed, according to Keller.

An investigation continues.
