Syracuse (AP/WSYR-TV) – Both the University of Texas and North Dakota State University have lifted evacuation orders after alerting students and staff to threats on Friday.

It is not known if the threats were connected.

At the University of Texas, the alert was posted shortly before 10 a.m. Friday. The alert advised people on campus to immediately evacuate all buildings and "get as far away as possible." NDSU also issued a statement shortly before 10 a.m.

NDSU said it would resume classes at 2 p.m. UT elected to cancel classes for the remainder of the day, but will resume other school activities at 5 p.m.

University of Texas director of communications Rhonda Weldon says the university received a call about 8:35 a.m. from a man with a Middle Eastern accent claiming to be with al-Qaida. The man said he had placed bombs all over the campus that would go off in 90 minutes.
