Geddes (WSYR-TV) -- Thousands packed the house at Chevy Court Wednesday for the Bruno Mars show, breaking the record for the most people to ever head to a Chevy Court concert with 35,000 strong -- beating out last year's concert put on by Lady Antebellum.
Folks began arriving for the show at 6:30 a.m.
One Bruno Mars fan told NewsChannel 9, "It's amazing! You don't know how excited we are." She had been waiting for front row seats since early Wednesday morning, and she got them.
About an hour later, at 7:30 a.m., all the prime seats were gone.
One fan said, "We tried so hard to get closer."
But unlike in years past, it didn't matter if you sat in the front row, or caught the show on the big screen near the NewsChannel 9 hut. Even at the back of Chevy Court, fans were able to hear Bruno Mars as if they were in the front because of the new state of the art sound system.
And the best part -- it was free!
As for the sound system, there are more than 60 speakers in Chevy Court this year and many are placed 30 feet in the air. That allows the sound to reach all the way to the back. It's a system that rivals the Grandstand.
