Geddes (WSYR-TV) – The Great New York State Fair is setting today aside to pay tribute to the men and women dedicated to defending the United States.

Veterans and active duty military personnel will be permitted onto the Fairgrounds for free throughout the day as long as they have military ID or discharge papers.

A specially designated area in front of the Horticulture Building on the Fairgrounds was built during the 1990s to honor men and women from all branches of the military.

“It’s our way of showing the veterans and the memory of the veterans that we support them…that we will support them. It’s just something that we do each and every year,” said AJ Kalil of the Marine Corps League.

Along with servicemen and women, the Fair is also paying tribute to fire and rescue personnel today.
