DeWitt (WSYR-TV) -- Burglars have been targeting businesses in DeWitt, according to police, and they you’re your help putting all the pieces together.
The burglars were caught on tape, which is shedding some light on what the suspects look like.
The Redemption Center along Collamer Road was forced to make some changes. They just installed sturdy glass and steel in hopes of preventing another burglary.
Four young men burst their way into the business and loaded up on cigarettes and whatever else they could carry, including cases, upon cases of beer and energy drinks.
“They were interested in products, which they were either going to consume or sell,” explained lead Investigator Jason Law.
The suspects looted twice, once in the morning hours of September 30 and then again the night of October 1.
The suspects are believed to be between the ages of 18 and 25. One of the suspects was wearing Nike sneakers, a unique sweatshirt that may say Itasca or Ithaca.
“[The sweater] has a picture of a Winnebago on it, either Ithaca or [Itasca] makes or manufactures campers and Winnebagos,” said Law.
Perhaps you saw something that could help police in this case. Surveillance video indicates that cars did pass by.
“Especially around 5 and 7 in the morning, there were carrying kegs out and two were standing outside as lookouts,” Law continued. “Usually you're going to pay attention to the kid with that much alcohol, or that many cigarettes, especially if it's unusual for them to have.”
