Solvay (WSYR-TV) – An anonymous onthelookout.net user gave Solvay Police the information they needed to catch a thief accused of stealing vodka from a Charles Avenue liquor store.
The anonymous caller identified the man seen on the security footage as 35-year old John Besaw. Besaw is charged with the theft of a bottle of vodka on August 22 at about 7:45 p.m.
Besaw is being held in the Justice Center on multiple charges from other police agencies throughout the county.
Besaw was previously arrested in September for a police car and foot-chase that started in the City of Syracuse and ended in Auburn. That chase started with Besaw in a stolen car on Syracuse's near west side. He led police along I-690 and I-695, exited onto Route 5 in Elbridge, crossed into Cayuga County and through the City of Auburn – where he drove the car off the road and into some brush. At that point, Besaw got out of the car and ran. He was quickly tracked down and placed under arrest.
