Caught on Tape: wallet snatched at laundromat
May 11
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - When you're at the laundromat keeping an eye on the rinse cycle, don't take your eyes off your purse. A woman made that mistake in Eastwood recently, and ended up getting cleaned out.
On April 29, at a laundromat on James Street in Eastwood, a woman in a white t-shirt snatched the wallet out of a bag left on top of a dryer.
"After she sees the wallet, she put on a black sweater. She grabs the lady's wallet, and shoves it underneath her sweater, and then she exits the store," Syracuse Police Sgt. Gary Bulinski said. "We're hoping people in the community will recognize her, give us a call and keep everything confidential."
Another camera caught the suspect's exit. Police hope that with the public's help, it won't be a clean getaway.
"We're hoping by having an arrest here, maybe we can make an example. Look, this will not be tolerated and you will be on camera at times you don't expect it," Sgt. Bulinski said.
