Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - He stalked his victim throughout a grocery store, and then swiped her purse from the shopping cart while she was loading the bags into her car. The entire sequence was Caught on Tape, and now police are hoping for some help identifying the thief.
The 57-year-old victim had no idea the man was watching her every move inside and outside the Price Chopper on Erie Boulevard East.
"Then he circled her, came around her and did a bypass," Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan said. "Then he swooped in, and took her purse."
With the purse, the man ran and got into a maroon-colored car. The vehicle's passenger side was damaged.
Every step of the crime was caught by the Price Chopper's surveillance cameras.
"He appears to be in his late teens, early 20's wearing white baseball cap, gray and black checkered coat," Sgt. Connellan said. "We would really like to get him, because there could be other victims."
