On The Lookout: ATM thief in North Syracuse

Last month, a 75-year-old man withdrew money from an ATM in North Syracuse. He forgot to take his card with him when he left – and he forgot to clear out his personal account information.

I do not understand how this could have happened. At all the atm machines I use if you select another transaction you are prompted to enter your pin number again. If this machine does not have that security feature find another bank fast.!!!!!

I can believe anything now adays cause the crime rate in Upstate NY is so crazy.Theres just not enough Police Officiers to catch as many as criminals cause theres to much going on 24/7.People just dont care anymore who they hurt.I SAY YOU DO THE CRIME YOU DO THE TIME.

So, maybe the should redesign these ATMs so that it is done by face recognition. That way, that ugly mug couldn't have made a transaction, thus taking advantage of the innocent man that forgot his card. BTW, the guy probably forgot his card because he thought that this thug was going to rob him!

This has nothing to do with the card of the victim. When the transaction was completed, the ATM generally asks if you would like another transaction before it spits your card out. If you don't respond, the ATM will eventually end the transaction on it's own and keep your card. You are given some time to decide first. Obviously, the victim walked away before being asked the question, possible being preoccupied with something else, althought I can't imagine what, and forgot the card, opening the door for the theft.

Wait a minute. I've seen this guy. Yeah, now I remember it was at the atm withdrawing $$$

So what bank is this? At mine you put the card in and take it out before you enter your code. He must have passed the guy if it would still let him make another transaction. You would think he would have said, excuse me did you forget your card? That is so bad.

Maybe he wasn't eligible for the Patterson stimulus scam.
